French President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned Russian military strikes on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and emphasized that Moscow will be held accountable for its refusal to engage in dialogue.
Macron warned Russia of the consequences of refusing to negotiate with Ukraine
According to the French leader, the recent agreement reached in Gaza offers hope for peace in the region, and similar efforts should be directed toward ending the war in Ukraine.
“If Russia continues to persist in its aggression and avoid negotiations, the consequences will be inevitable,” Macron stated.
The French president added that France actively supports Ukraine and, together with its partners, is considering measures to restore damaged infrastructure and ensure basic services, especially before the onset of winter.
Situation in Ukraine on October
On the night of October 12, Russian forces launched targeted strikes on energy facilities in the Donetsk region, leaving the region completely without electricity. Reconstruction work continues in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi following drone attacks that damaged key infrastructure.
Russia launched several drones again this morning and afternoon, triggering air raid sirens in several northern regions and twice in Kyiv. Explosions and power outages were reported in the Boryspil district. The Russian army also launched a drone attack on the city of Chernihiv, injuring three people.

Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu said he does not intend to return to the role of prime minister but expressed confidence that a political way out of the current crisis can be found. He stressed the importance of forming a government “free from presidential ambitions ahead of 2027.”
