Today, we honor the memory of Yurii Volyk, a courageous sniper and former priest hailing from Trostianets in Sumy Oblast, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast at the age of 36.

Words of Tribute: Reflecting on Volyk’s selfless act of shielding his comrades during a firefight, Hryshchuk expressed, “Heroically covering his brothers-in-arms during a firefight, priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine from Trostianets, Priest Yurii Volyk, was killed. Now he is in God’s embrace, in a place of light! Rest in peace, my friend.”
Account of Service: Volyk answered the call to serve his country, joining the military in late March 2025 as a skilled sniper-rifleman. His dedication and integrity earned him the respect and trust of his fellow soldiers, as acknowledged by the city council.
Tragically, on August 6, Yurii Volyk sustained a fatal injury while bravely fulfilling his duty during a confrontation. He leaves behind his grieving mother to cherish his memory.
