The Indonesian president accidentally asked Trump to meet his son Eric in a “hot mic” episode

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto accidentally asked Donald Trump to arrange a meeting with his son Eric while the conversation was being recorded on the microphone, Reuters reports.

The incident occurred in Sharm el-Sheikh after Trump’s speech at a summit of world leaders discussing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

In the recording, Prabowo can be heard mentioning the insecure region and asking, “Can I meet with Eric?” Trump replies, “I’ll ask Eric to call. He’s such a good boy.” The Indonesian president then clarifies, “Eric or Don Jr.” Trump reiterates that he will ask Eric to contact him.

Eric and Donald Trump Jr. are executive vice presidents at the Trump Organization, which manages real estate, hotels, and blockchain projects. In Indonesia, the company owns a golf club near Jakarta and will soon open a resort in Bali.

The White House and the Indonesian Embassy in the United States have not yet commented on this heated microphone incident. It is unclear from the audio recording whether specific business projects were discussed or just the possibility of a personal meeting.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington on October 17.

Journalists report that the meeting date was agreed upon during the leaders’ recent phone conversations. Officials emphasized that discussing sensitive issues—such as weapons deliveries, air defense systems, and diplomatic matters—requires an in-person dialogue, which cannot be fully addressed over the phone.
