On the night of September 13-14, an emergency situation occurred on the railway in the Kyiv region.
Late in the evening, residents of the Kyiv region heard a series of explosions, causing panic and a wave of messages on social networks. As was later clarified by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, it was not an enemy attack: ammunition detonated in one of the cars of a train carrying military cargo.
The incident occurred on the section between Vasylkiv and Boyarka. The explosion damaged the railway track near Kyiv, and traffic on the line had to be urgently stopped. Three cars were uncoupled from the train, and a headquarters for the elimination of the consequences was deployed on the site. Pyrotechnic units are examining the area, and the military, together with the police, are finding out the causes of the incident.
According to official data, there are no casualties or injuries among the military personnel. However, civilians near the scene experienced severe stress: three women needed medical assistance.
Explosion near Kyiv
The incident caused interruptions in the movement of passenger trains. At night, Ukrzaliznytsia announced delays and route changes: some trains, including the Kharkiv-Przemysl train, were in the incident zone. Some passengers were taken to Kyiv by bus, while others continued their journey by detours. During the day, the company warned of possible delays of two to three hours.
The National Police registered a criminal case under the article on violation of traffic safety rules or operation of railway transport. The causes of the detonation will be established during the investigation and official inspection.
Thus, the incident became a serious reminder of how vulnerable the country’s critical infrastructure remains even far from the front.
