During a recent meeting that lasted nearly three hours, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the prospects of a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire. Despite Trump stating that there was “no deal” reached, he expressed optimism by mentioning that there is a “very good chance of getting there.”
Following their discussion, Trump disclosed that he intends to reach out to NATO allies and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The press conference that ensued, lasting 12 minutes, saw both leaders offering only limited insights into their conversation, and they did not entertain any questions from the media.
Trump emphasized the productivity of the talks, noting that “many points were agreed to.” However, there was a notable absence of progress on a significant issue, which seemed to refer to the ceasefire that Trump had hoped to persuade Putin to agree to.
