US President Donald Trump stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin planned to end the war

Trump: Putin is already in his fourth year of waging a war he planned to end in a week

US President Donald Trump stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin planned to end the war against Ukraine in just a week, but it has been going on for nearly four years.

The White House chief told reporters this during a press conference

“I’m very disappointed. Vladimir and I had a good relationship, and maybe we still have that. But I don’t understand why he continues this war. It’s brought him so much misery,” Trump said.

According to the president, Putin is “entering the fourth year of a war he should have won in a week.”

“He’s already lost about 1.5 million soldiers—counting the wounded and those who lost arms and legs. It’s all terrible. It’s a terrible war,” Trump emphasized.

He also added that the conflict in Ukraine has become “the largest event since World War II in terms of human casualties.”

It was previously reported that Russia has lost between 4,000 and 9,000 tanks and about 20,000 armored vehicles since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. According to NATO data, the Russian army lost an average of 950 people per day in September alone, and in 2025, this figure rose to approximately 1,200 daily casualties. Russia’s total losses exceeded 1.1 million, of which over 250,000 were killed.
