Trump: Denial of Nobel Prize would be "an insult to the United States"

Trump Says Awarding the Nobel Prize to Anyone Else Would Be an “Insult” to the US

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States would be insulted if he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomatic efforts. He claimed that his plan has already ended seven international conflicts, and the Gaza agreement could be the eighth.

Speaking to troops in Virginia, Trump emphasized: “If this works out, we’ll have eight in eight months. No one has ever done that.” He also noted skeptically that the prize would likely be awarded to “someone who has done nothing but write a book about Trump.”

Gaza Peace Plan

His 20-point plan for a settlement in the Gaza Strip has already received the approval of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and has been submitted to Hamas for review, with Qatar and Egypt acting as mediators. The document calls for the creation of an international council to rebuild the region.

External Support

Trump’s initiative was supported by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. The White House also stated that it was “long overdue” to award Trump the Nobel Prize.

Diplomatic Test

However, ending the war in Gaza and Ukraine remains a serious challenge. Despite nominations already received from a number of countries and Republican members of Congress, the Nobel Committee will decide the award’s fate in December.

Trump’s Nobel Prize is only possible if the war in Gaza ends

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Donald Trump will only be eligible for the Nobel Peace Prize if he succeeds in ending the fighting in Gaza. Macron stated that putting pressure on Israel and ending the conflict will be key to the Norwegian Committee’s consideration of Trump’s candidacy.

The French leader emphasized that Trump’s position on a Palestinian state remains one of the main obstacles to peace. His unwillingness to recognize the Palestinians’ right to their own state complicates diplomatic efforts.
